Dr. Brenda Adams

Brenda Adams M.D., RCC is a Principal Faculty member with the City University of Seattle Master of Counselling program on Vancouver Island, Canada. She also works as a counsellor in private practice in Duncan, BC. Her special interests include counselling those who have experienced violence, abuse, and/or grief, and those recovering from life-changing injuries. Drawing on the response-based approach developed by Allan Wade and colleagues, she developed a response-based approach to grief counselling, with special applications to counselling people after the death of a family member who abused them. She also combines her background in medicine and counselling to examine implications of leading edge epigenetic and gene-environment-interaction research for counselling and other social responses to violence. She has presented at local, provincial, national, and international events.
