Laura Brown is a heterosexual, cisgender settler woman of Scottish heritage, who has been a guest on unceded Coast Salish territory her whole life. After completing undergraduate studies in psychology and political science, Laura completed a Masters of Counselling through City University of Seattle. It was there that she studied and explored principles of response-based practice, and applied those ideas to her work as a counsellor. As a student, Laura co-created and implemented a response-based drama therapy group program for youth. Today, as a feminist counsellor, Laura works for the Sooke Transition House Society, supporting women responding to violence by their partners.
